1. Sally Yates is an Obama appointee serving as acting Attorney General. She was fired yesterday, Monday, January 30.
2. Yates was the attorney general for Trump because she was the Attorney General for Obama at his time of presidency, and so she then was the attorney general for Trump. She would have stayed attorney general for Trump until she was replaced by another attorney general of Trump's choice. Trump's action to choose a different attorney general was delayed by democrats so Yates was the attorney general until Trump could find someone else.
3. Yates was fired because she instructed Department of Justice Employees not to defend Trump's executive order on immigration. She betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States.
4. She said she is responsible for ensuring that the positions that the Department of Justice taeks in court will remain consistent with the institutions obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right she also says that her job is to make lawful decisions based on the facts presented to her, and based on the facts she is not convinced that the executive order is lawful or consistent with her responsibilities.
