Intelligence Part II

Nash Equilibrium – When no opponent can gain an advantage or fall behind because both opponents stick to the same game plan.

Game Theory – Analysis of your opponent’s strategy, you have to think about your opponent’s strategy and try to get ahead of what they’re thinking.

Prisoner Dilemma – Each person’s outcome depends on your opponent’s decision. If you work together you get a medium prize. If you challenge and he wants to work together he gets a big prize. If you work together and he challenges you get a small prize.

In History – Throughout history war generals and leaders have to use strategy to get ahead of the enemy so they can win the war.

In Government – In elections each candidate has to try to get the strategic advantage to get ahead of the opposition. You have to try and find out what they are going to do and get ahead.

In Economics – Stores everywhere compete with each other for lower prices. This way they can get more business than their competitors which is a strategic advantage. They game plan what the competitors are going to do and they try to beat that.

In Sociology – People all over come together to negotiate different terms. While doing this they have to keep each other’s opinions in mind which will help get the best overall outcome. Doing so they have to think about each other's opinion and then with this in mind they can propose a theory that will be beneficial to all people.

In Psychology – Throughout life you can use theories that you have learned to try and get ahead of your opponent and gain a strategic advantage to get ahead and win. Use the theories to get ahead of what your opponent is thinking.

In Everyday Life – Every day you try to get ahead of your opponent. Such as today we will try and use this to get ahead of our opponent in basketball. We want to strategically game plan and think of what they are going to do so we are ready for them and so we can have the advantage.

After playing the game I can see exactly what the game was trying to demonstrate. It showed how you have to think about your opponents decision beforehand to try and get an advantage while in turn will help them win. Overall I didnt like the game very much, but I can see how this can apply over to everyday life.  It can help you get more of an advantage and get what you want.

Have you ever wanted to go out in the field and shoot that big buck? Well if you have a nice box blind to put you out in the field, you will have a better chance to shoot this big deer. I will now describe to you how to build this box blind and how to set it up in the field.

First off you need to find a spot to put your blind. You should find a spot that is fairly flat and has cover to hold deer. It should also be fairly accessible to you. One more good thing to look at is to make sure that there are plenty of deer signs in the area.

Once you find the right area picked out, you will need to get the right supplies for your box blind. Finding the right supplies to build your box blind is not very hard at all. You can use very simple supplies. What you will need is plywood for the floor, 4x4's for the legs of the blind, 2x4s for the frame, steel for the siding on the blind, and paint to use to camouflage the blind.

When you start assembling the blind you first need to cut the legs to about 8 foot long. then you need to connect the legs at the top with 2x4's about 5 foot long. After that put the piece of plywood on the top of the legs to make the floor. On top of the floor build the frame for the box blind using the 2x4's. Make sure you include windows or open areas in your frame. Once that is finished take the steel siding and put it on the top for the roof, and then put it on the sides for siding.

Once you have the box blind done, you need to paint it so that it will blend in to the surroundings. You have to find the pattern of the area you're hunting in and try and replicate it on your blind so that you can blend in and so the deer wont notice you. Make sure that when you paint the blind use a darker color for a base to coat the whole blind with, and then make other patterns on top of the base coat.

The last thing you need to do now is you need to move the blind out to your hunting area. You can move your blind fairly easily by picking it up with a loader tractor. Once you have it picked up, you can now carry it to your hunting area. Make sure that when you put it down that the windows are facing open areas and make sure that you have clear shooting lanes from them. After this is done, you are ready to get out in the field and shoot that big buck!

Ever since I was just a little boy I have loved farming and I knew that I wanted to return home someday and become a fourth generation farmer/rancher at our family’s ranch just outside of Langford, South Dakota. My western heritage is important to me and I would like to honor my family’s traditions and culture in which I have been raised.

Horses have always been a very important part of our ranching operation. Throughout my life on the farm, I have always been around them and I have learned to appreciate them and everything they are capable of doing. As of now, my grandpa and my dad break and colts and train them to cut and complete tasks that are necessary for working cattle, but someday I would like to do this myself and carry on the family tradition. Along with using horses for cattle work out in the pasture, my grandpa has been active in team pennings and my dad has been active in team roping’s. Before I was even born my dad was traveling all over for team roping’s, and as I have grown up I have gotten to go with him to several of these events. Along with this, I have been able to learn how to rope in our barn by throwing at our roping dummies. I am beginning to learn how to rope off of a horse now in the arena and out in the pasture. This is a very critical skill needed for treating cows and calves in the pasture or other rugged terrain.

Another aspect of our family farm is agriculture. Throughout the years we have raised many different crops such as barley, oats, and sunflowers, but now days we focus on corn, beans, alfalfa, and wheat. We use a lot of the alfalfa and corn to feed the cattle, and a lot of the other crops are used for cash crops. By raising our own feed for our cattle, we are able to perfectly fit their nutritional needs and we can control their intake. Along we this, we are able to properly care for all of our cattle from the day they are born all the way up to when they are in the feedlots. We can ensure as best as possible that we are getting the highest grade of cattle going through our feedlots as possible.

One of the greatest things I have gotten to experience growing up on a farm in South Dakota is the traditions and importance of family. It is incredible to see everyone working together towards a similar goal, and it’s even better to see that goal get accomplished. When we are doing larger projects around the farm everyone in the family and sometimes other friends will join together to get the job done. I enjoy getting to work along all of these people as we work and is it a great feeling when you not only finish the job, but have fun while doing it and making lots of memories for the future.

In summary, the Western tradition in which I have been brought up in has branded me in a way that will be with me forever. I would like to continue the traditions of family and friends working together, of a hard day’s work and of living off the land. I would like to pass these values onto my own children and grandchildren and share with them the importance of life on family farms/ranches in South Dakota.

Election Reflection

I think that this election could go two ways for our country. I think that this election could be a good thing and it could help bring our country together. I think that some people might see how divided our country is and people might come together to try and make America the great country it is once again. I also can see this election being bad for our country. I can see people with such different view points dividing the country worse. People now days are so stubborn and they want everything to go their way, so I think this could lead to the divide of our nation and maybe even worse things.

I learned throughout this that politics isn't what it used to be. People aren't interested in issues facing our country, they are worried about making the other person look bad. We need to change this and focus on making our country better, not tear each other apart. I also learned there are many issues. The republicans and democrats hate each other and that could lead to a big time divide. Hillary wants to take away some gun rights while Trump strongly supports the Second Amendment. Hillary wants to take in more immigrants while Donald wants them out of the country. I learned that elections are very drawn out and they are run differently than I thought. The election is based off of states electoral votes, and not popular vote, so it really doesn't give people the say they should have.

Over the course of the election, my opinion on the candidates has changed. At first I thought that Hillary had some good points and that she was a good candidate while Donald Trump was a bad man and not fit for the country. As the election went on and as I did more research my opinion changed. I learned that Hillary is a bad woman and she has done lots of wrong in her life, and I also learned the media blew a lot of things about Donald Trump out of proportion. I think that as long as Donald keeps his head and thinks first, he has some good ideas and he should be able to help this country. Over the election I learned just really how corrupt politics is. Everyone tries to cut every corner and lie and cheat. All anyone wants to do is nag on each other and not even truly worry about politics. The media also is a big influence and I do not think they should have as much power as they do. They really make a lot of things worse and they blow everything out of proportion. Our democratic process is weak and I think that we need to go back to the good old days where American values mean more than they do today. Although I think the democratic process needs to be fixed, I learned a lot about everything that goes into a big election like this one and I learned a lot about the long process.

1. The stock market will increase (especially with big businesses)
2. The 2nd Amendment will be strongly supported
3.Our military will be pulled out of most overseas countries
4. Drinking age will be lowered to 18
5. Obama Care will be taken away
6. Very few immigrants will be allowed to come
7. We will have rough relations with China but things will work out
8. We will have strong relations with Russia
9. Foreign Trade will go up
10. National debt will be decreased

Memory

There are many different things that researchers have found which can help improve or stimulate your memory. In a recent study at the John Hopkins University, they found that caffeine not only can help boost your energy and help keep you up, but caffeine also can enhance your memory. The research shows that caffeine has a positive effect on our long-term memory, and it also shows that caffeine can help enhance your memory up to 24 hours after you learn it.

A test was done on people who do not normally consume very much caffeine. First these people were shown a series of pictures they had to remember. 5 minutes later, half of them were given a 200 mg tablet of caffeine and the rest of the people were left alone. The next day the experimenters were given another series of pictures, some the same and some different. The people who took the caffeine tablets were able to correctly identify the pictures while the people who did not not take any caffeine had a more difficult time correctly identifying the pictures.

Caffeine helps a person use deeper levels of memory called pattern separation. The caffeine that a lot of put intake focuses livens you up and keeps you awake, which in turn allows you to focus stronger and help you use a deeper part of your memory which will help your long-term memory stay more vivid and for more of an extended time period. The average person on average consumers 200 mg of caffeine each day, so our brains use this technique more often than you would think. Caffeine has a beneficial effect on your long-term memory.

28th Ammendment

I think that we need to make an amendment that moves the drinking age to the age of 18. I think there is a big need for this amendment. I think that this would help with a lot of things within our country. Our country is in debt big time and we need anything we can get to help generate more money. I think this amendment would generate more money for our country.

The amendment would read as follows: 28th Amendment - Drinking Age to 18
Any persons ages 18 and over are legally allowed to purchase, make, and consume intoxicating liquid within the United States of America.

This amendment I think would overall benefit the country and everyone in the country as a whole. It would first of all save a lot of people from getting minors or getting tickets for drinking under age. Lets all be honest too, a lot of people younger than 21 already drink. It would help save many of these people from having to pay a fine or getting in trouble. Also, it would help to generate more money for each state and for our country. More people would have the opportunity to purchase alcohol which would in turn generate more money.

The last reason I think that this amendment needs to be passed is because 18 year old people now are treated as adults, so they should be able to purchase and consume alcohol like adults. 18 years old people have to sign up for the draft in the military, most have to start paying taxes, they can legally vote and have an influence on our country, and they have the right to purchase tobacco products.

With all these reasons I think that moving the drinking age to 18 would be very beneficial to our country, and it would benefit our country in the long run.

Donald Trump Narcissist or Sociopath

Narcissist - A person who is cocky, manipulative, selfish, wants power, and is obsessed with them self.
Sociopath - Person with a personality disorder which creates and anti-social attitude/behavior and a lack of thinking or conscience.

Donald Trump shows characteristics of both a narcissist and a sociopath. The one characteristic of a sociopath he shows is his lack of conscience. He doesn't really think about anything he says or does. He says whatever is on his mind, no matter how wrong or harsh it is, and he deals with the consequences later on. He also creates a very negative attitude about himself in the eye of the public. He gives himself a bad reputation and pushes a lot of people away. Although he characteristics of both, a narcissist fits his personality almost perfectly. He is very cocky an arrogant, and he is not afraid to let the public know this. He always tells people how much many he makes every year and wants the world to know "how great he is."

He is also a very manipulative man. He has a very big influence on the public. He wants everyone to believe that he will cut down on taxes. He says that he will make many more new jobs in America. He also says that with his skills in the business world he will help to chip away at America's giant debt. The uneducated voters who like the sound of these proposals will vote for him. Many of his voters have no idea what they are truly voting for. He has manipulated many people into thinking he will help make this country great again.

Donald Trump is obsessed with power. That is all that he wants, control and power, and he has always wanted that. Over the years with his business he has generated a lot of money, and this has given him a sense of power. Now he wants the most power there is in the United States. He wants to be rich and he also wants to control the country.

Last but not least, Donald Trump is obsessed with himself. He only cares about all of the money he makes and has. He doesn't care about the country very much considering he hasn't paid taxes for the last 18 years. He proposed to build a wall just because he did not like a certain race. He is very opinionated and self centered and all he thinks about is the well being of himself. This has really showed clearly in his presidential campaign.

Overall Donald Trump is pretty 100 percent narcissist. In general he just cares about himself and his well being and tries to manipulate the public by portraying this as a good thing.

15th and 18th Constitutional Amendments

15th Amendment - Right to Vote

The 15th amendment was proposed by Congress on February 26, 1869. It was ratified on February 3, 1870. This amendment does not guarantee the right to vote to African Americans or anyone else. This amendment does forbid the States from discriminating against any person on the grounds of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

The 15th amendment was created right after the civil war to give equal voting opportunities for African Americans, other minority, and other everyone else.

Today this amendment still gives an equal opportunity to everyone so they may vote. It gives everyone an equal say in political issues.

The 15th amendment still has issues today. Some people are intimidated and do not want to vote. Also, our rights to vote have been questioned during rallies and it has even been questioned by our presidential candidates.

18th Amendment - Prohibition of Intoxicating Liquors

The 18th amendment was proposed by congress on December 18, 1917. It was ratified on January 16, 1919. This outlawed the making, selling, transporting, importing, or exporting of alcoholic beverages in the US. This amendment was repealed by the 21st amendment in 1933.

The 18th amendment was created by activists who thought that alcohol was tearing apart our country. They thought that alcohol was causing excess violence and grief between families.

It was repealed in its entirety in 1933. It really opened up the gates to organized crime.

Today some want to change the legal drinking age to 18. Organized crime is still a huge issue. Also some states want to ban alcohol again.

Learning

The first time I remember teaching someone something was when I taught someone how to throw a football. Throwing a football isn’t the most difficult task to do, but for someone who hasn’t throw one before it can be kind of difficult. With a little work and practice throwing a football can become second nature.

While teaching the kid how to throw a football it took patience and lots of hands on work. I had to be patient with the little kid because no one is perfect, and he had never thrown a football before so it took a little time. The hands on work I had to do was I had to demonstrate the correct technique of how to throw a football so he knew how he was supposed to throw it.

When everything was said and done, things worked out. The efforts I put into helping him throw a football paid off and in the end he could throw a football pretty good. I was happy with the effort he put into it and I was glad the techniques I used paid off.

Colin Kaepernick Blog

Colin Kaepernick is an idiot. That is my honest opinion about him. I think that the whole sitting down during the national because it's "his right" is just a big joke. I think that more than anything it is just more for publicity than anything. he's trying to be recognized and I think that it is back firing more than anything on him.

First off I cant even believe that he would have the nerve to do what he did. He says that African American people are getting oppressed and minority people are getting treated poorly. Well first off if he thinks that he can just not have the opportunity too play American football. He could just not get paid millions of dollars every year to go out and play football. America gave him the right to play football. America and the National Football League "have the right" to tell Colin Kaepernick he cant play football. How do you suppose he'd feel about that? I'm sure he would call that discrimination too and make a big deal about it. Look at all of the African American and other minority men that are allowed play football for a living. No one else believes that they have a higher right than America itself.

Sure there are some flaws in America now no doubt. Every country has them. Sure some white authorities have done some hasty actions recently and wrongfully shot minorities. I'm not saying it is okay but people do make mistakes. Yes some action needs to be taken but Colin Kaepernick protesting the national anthem is a big mistake. People need to realize that there's a bigger problem than "white people discriminating minority people." African American cops have shot white people wrongfully. They have shot other African American people and other minorities. People, especially Kaepernick, need to realize the problem as a whole. People need to not react so dramatically.

Not standing for a country who fought for your freedom, died for your freedom, and helped get you all the rights you have today is a joke. If you don't respect America and all that it has given you just get out of the country. See how bad other countries have it and it might change your attitude a little bit.

People need to get off their butts and realize what it actually going on. We need to make America a strong nation again, not fight over every little tiny thing we can. We need to not be so soft. There are too many soft people that live here and we need to change the thought process of these people. Get your head out of your butt and go work for a living. I don't care where you came from and what your race is, if you live in America and support the ideas, there is no problem. People just need to wake up form the dream they're trying to live in and start living in reality.

Athletic, hard-working, determined

Honestly, the main reason that I am taking psychology is because the school makes. There were no other classes to take instead. Although it was a required class, I definitely would have chose to take this class. On the bright side, I am glad I am taking this class and I think that it will be a very fun year. I have no idea the actual meaning of psychology. All that I know is that it is a study of the brain  and how it reacts to certain situations and feelings that are thrown your way. I think that having you as a teacher is an awesome experience and I think that it teaches me some very valuable life lessons. Also, I get a lot out of your classes because you make all the students pay very close attention and you also get the most important points across very clearly and in an easy fashion so that all the members of the class can understand and remember. The main thing that I would like to get out of psychology this year is to understand the meaning of it and learn what actually occurs during the study. Another thing that i want to learn would be to learn how to mess with peoples minds. I think that would be pretty cool. Otherwise I am looking forward to a very fun year with a fun teacher.
